The signs of times…

The decline of Christian culture in Europe continues and as it does we see the houses that once served our Lord and King become houses used for other purposes. It is almost scary to see them, see the remnant of the beauty and then upon a closer look see them misused for a purpose they where never intended. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel pain because of a building being used for other purposes. I do however pain because I see why these once great places of worship are empty and become unused.

The writer of the article sums it up pretty good… at least from a non-christian point of view:

I personally like the idea that with the transformation the old church became a place to “worship knowledge” through many books, instead of being a place of worship that mainly uses just one very, very, very old book…

How sad is that? Not just rejoicing in an old building being used for something new, but even now putting down the very book we put our faith on and at one point was the foundation for these buildings. What comes to mind for me is the second commandment as it says in Exodus 20:

3 “You shall have no other gods before [a] me.

4 “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Oh repent and turn. Turn towards your savior, the only saviour! Turn away from your idol… you made yourself and idol and lift it on the altar of your mind.
Lord have mercy and help me to reach my generation while there is still time.
